In this report, the School Health Index includes a Planning for Improvement section to help schools develop an action plan for improving student health. A school's results from the Index can help promote health activities in the overall School Improvement Plan. With the growing recognition of the relationship between health and academic performance, completing the School Health Index can become a school's important Leave No Child Behind educational reform activities. The School Health Index is a self-assessment tool. Index scores should be used only to help understand a school's strengths and weaknesses and to develop an action plan for improving promotion of health and safety.
