Integrating a Single Tablet PC in Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics Courses
Rogers, James W.; Cox, James R.
Journal of College Science Teaching, v37 n3 p34-39 Jan 2008
A tablet PC is a versatile computer that combines the computing power of a notebook with the pen functionality of a PDA (Cox and Rogers 2005b). The authors adopted tablet PC technology in order to improve the process and product of the lecture format in their chemistry, engineering, and physics courses. In this high-tech model, a single tablet PC provides a fundamentally different way to deliver content, interact with students inside and outside the classroom, and provide an electronic archive of notes. Students report that this instructional model enhances classroom dynamics, teaching effectiveness, and student learning. (Contains 1 table and 5 figures.)
