The Development, Theory, and Application of a Cognitive-Network Model of Prediction Problem Solving in Biology.
Lavoie, Derrick R.
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v30 n7 p767-85 Sep 1993

The results confirm that successful prediction problem solving involve an intricate network of relevant declarative knowledge that is manipulated and transformed by appropriate procedural knowledge.
