Testing a Model of Science Process Skills Acquisition: An Interaction with Parents' Education, Preferred Language, Gender, Science Attitude, Cognitive Development, Academic Ability, and Biology Knowledge.
Germann, Paul J.
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v31 n7 p749-83 Sep 1994
Sixty-seven students participated in a study that used path analysis techniques to test a hypothesized structural model of direct and indirect causal effects of students variables on science process skills. Academic ability, biology knowledge, and language preference were found to have significant direct effect, whereas cognitive development, parents' education, and attitude toward science in school had significant mediated effects.
