The Role of Hypothetico-Deductive Reasoning and Physical Analogues of Molecular Interactions in Conceptual Change.
Lawson, Anton E.; And Others
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v30 n9 p1073-85 Nov 1993
The experimental/analogy group scored significantly higher than the control group on a posttest question that required the definition of diffusion (n=77 community college students). Hypothetico-deductive reasoning skill was significantly related to correct application of the diffusion concept to a change from the misapplication of the polarity and bonding concepts to the correct application of the diffusion concept.
