On the Evaluation of Systemic Science Education Reform: Searching for Instructional Sensitivity.
Ruiz-Primo, Maria Araceli; Shavelson, Richard J.; Hamilton, Laura; Klein, Steve
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v39 n5 p369-393 May 2002
Proposes a multilevel-multifaceted approach to evaluating the impact of education reform on student achievement that would be sensitive to context and small treatment effects. Uses a different assessment based on students' proximity to the enacted curriculum. Indicates that close assessment were more sensitive to the changes in students' pre- to post- test performance than proximal assessments. (Contains 41 references.) (Author/YDS)
