Effects of Coping Styles on College Persistence Decisions among Latino Students in Two Year Colleges.
LeSure-Lester, G. Evelyn
Journal of College Student Retention, v5 n1 p11-22 2003-2004
Administered the Persistence/Voluntary Dropout Decision Scale and Cope Inventory to Hispanic two-year college students to assess the impact of coping style on college persistence decisions. Results identified how different types of persistence decisions among students were positively or negatively associated with specific dispositional coping styles. Active dispositional style was the strongest predictor of persistence decisions. Persistence decisions were most negatively predicted by denial and alcohol-drug disengagement. (SM)
