Teaching English in the Two-Year College, v32 n1 p78-86 Sep 2004
Montgomery College in Maryland has a history of providing faculty with opportunities that endorse the importance of continuing scholarship to community college teaching. Two of Montgomery's professional development models have enabled faculty to gain currency, try new approaches, work with colleagues, and teach revitalized classes. The most extensive of these programs has set up institutes or seminars in which a group of selected faculty fellows explores a specific topic; the simpler one, called the Scholarly Activities Program, has given individual faculty released time for scholarship.
