Teacher to Teacher: Supporting English Language Learners
McElroy, Edward J.
Teaching Pre K-8, v36 n3 p8 Nov-Dec 2005
The student population is changing, and teachers need new tools to help their English language learner (ELL) students. ELL students are learning to read, write, and speak English at the same time as they study history, science, math, and all the other subjects taught in our schools. This article describes one tool, the Colorin Colorado website, that teachers can use to assist these students. This website is designed for parents and educators of pre K-3 students, and the materials can be easily adapted for students in grades four through eight, and for ELLs who come from non-Spanish-speaking backgrounds.
