The Virginia Plan for Higher Education 1987.
Virginia State Council of Higher Education, Richmond.
The biennial statewide plan for higher education in Virginia outlines the status of the state system and proposes academic and administrative actions to move the system forward through the next two years and beyond. The first section gives a statistical profile of the state system, including private and public college and university enrollment distributions, selected student characteristics, state appropriations, space needs, degrees conferred, and faculty tenure and rank distribution by institution. The second section presents three issue papers on current concerns and interests in Virginia higher education, each making suggestions for policy and administration. These include "Building upon Progress: Goals for Virginia Higher Education 1988-90,""Virginia's Academic Libraries in the Age of Information Technology," and "Report on Student Assessment." A series of institutional narratives follows, one for each public and independent higher education institution in the state, including two-year colleges. The booklet is copiously illustrated with black and white photographs. (MSE)
