Intensive Training Seminar for American Sign Language Interpreters, Post-Secondary Employment Emphasis.
Eastfield Coll., Mesquite, TX.
The intensive four-week seminar described in this report was designed for sign language interpreters currently employed or desiring employment in public post-secondary technical and vocational education. After explaining the objectives of the seminar, its targeted participants, and the training structure, the report presents an outline of the topics covered and the instructional methods used for each of the 18 training days and 2 evaluation days of the seminar. Next, a list of instructional materials and resources is presented. After describing the facilities used for the symposium, the report lists the other schools to which the project training materials were distributed. The bulk of the report consists of the materials that were distributed to symposium participants, including a code of ethics, assignments, an evaluation form, self-assessment instruments, exercises related to risk taking, relaxation training materials, and information on stress, personality types, perception, and judgment.
