Women and Work Exposition. Final Report.
Oxrieder, Ann
To increase the enrollment of women in trade programs by 10%, one community college designed a model for and held a one-day exposition fair to acquaint students and staff with nontraditional vocational programs for women. The replicable model, prepared as a guide for others planning similar career fairs, consists of eight major steps, relevant examples for implementation, and potential problems. These steps are as follows: (1) identifying needs and program objectives, (2) choosing a coordinator, (3) identifying the audience, (4) setting a date, (5) determining program activities, (6) setting up a plan of action, (7) implementing the plan of action, and (8) writing follow-up letters and reports. (The appendix includes a job description for a nontraditional career fair coordinator, a planning sheet, publicity materials, sample letters, a budget worksheet, and a participant information packet.)
