Survey of Fall 1975 Entering Students Who Graduated in 1975-76 or 1976-77: Community Colleges. Student Flow Project, Report No. 41.
Hawaii Univ., Honolulu. Community Coll. System.
As part of a longitudinal study of fall 1975 entering students at Hawaii community colleges, this report focuses on two student groups: those who graduated during 1975-76 and those who graduated during 1976-77. Student characteristics were significantly different between groups. There were greater proportions of female than male graduates for both years, but females especially predominated in 1975-76 (64% vs. 51% in 1976-77). A plurality of 1975-76 graduates were over 29 years old (28% vs. 13% in 1976-77), and a majority of 1976-77 graduates were 20-21 years old (58% vs. 20% in 1975-76). Programs with the highest number of graduates in 1975-76 were liberal arts (25%) and health sciences (22%) and in 1976-77, technology (32%) and business (29%). A plurality of 1975-76 graduates earned certificates (39% vs. 28% in 1976-77), and a majority of 1976-77 graduates earned associate of science degrees (53% vs. 21% in 1975-76); and 9% of 1975-76 and 1% of 1976-77 students had grade point averages below 2.0. In addition, more 1976-77 graduates were employed (48%), enrolled in school (15%), and both in school and working (26%) than 1975-76 graduates (33, 11, and 21% respectively). Evaluations of college experiences, details on current school attendance and employment, and 26 data tables are included. (TR)
