Findings are presented from a study of available documentary evidence related to the finance of public education in the State of Florida. Spanning the past 12 years, and including estimates and projections for 1983-84 and 1984-85, the report focuses on the revenue and expenditures of the Florida Public School System, the Florida Community College System, and the State University System of Florida. Revenue analysis is limited to state and local sources, focusing on program revenue (i.e., the calculated base-line revenue for operations, consisting of state formula revenue and "required local" revenue) and current revenue (i.e, the sum of program revenue and all state categorical and local optional contributions to operating fund budgets). Expenditure analysis is limited to operating expenditure per full-time equivalent (FTE). Data are presented to facilitate comparisons across systems on an individual measure for a given year, and across systems on the percentage change in an individual measure over a period of years. In addition to information on the three principal sectors of public education, specific data are provided for the Dade County Public School System and Miami-Dade Commuinity College. Data tables include itemizations of program revenue, all-sector summaries of total state formula revenue, current revenue (state and local), and operating expenditures per FTE. (EJV)
