1984 Graduates of Sinclair Community College: What They Came for, What They Achieved, and What They Thought of Us.

In fall 1984, a survey of recent graduates of Sinclair Community College (SCC) was conducted to determine graduates' characteristics, perceptions of college services, and current activities. Study findings, based on a 52% response rate (N=611), included the following: (1) 62% of the graduates were female, 87% were Caucasian, and 34% were between the ages of 26-35; (2) 59% attended SCC to prepare for a job; (3) 40.89% were business technology majors and 22.94% were allied health majors; (4) 44% took 2 to 3 years to finish their degree; (5) generally, students were pleased with instructional quality at SCC; (6) 77% of the transferring graduates said they had no problems in the transfer process, though 55% experienced some credit hour loss; (7) 75% of transfers felt their preparation was good or very good; (8) 86% of graduates who had become employed since graduation considered their training good or very good; (9) approximately 31% of employed students were working in their job area prior to enrolling at SCC; (10) approximately 47% thought that the availability of jobs in their field was good or very good; and (11) 76% indicated they would be interested in returning to take courses for personal interest or continuing education.
