The Tests of General Educational Development in Differential Prediction of Two-Year College Academic Performance.

The predictive value of the high-school-level battery of the tests of General Educational Development (GED) for two-year college academic performance was investigated. GED tests scores were examined to determine if they could substitute for a complete high school record as a source of predictor data. Student record data from a registrar's office of a community college was evaluated. The results support the premise that the GED is a valid and positive predictor of first semester, two-year college GPA. There were no significant differences between academic performance of high achool graduates and non-high school graduate GED recipients in the study. (Author/BCR)
