Wisconsin Technical College System Board 2001-2002 Graduate Follow-Up Report.
Wisconsin Technical Coll. System Board, Madison.
The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) conducts an annual Graduate Follow-Up Survey to gather data regarding the activities and perceptions of students approximately 6 months after their graduation from the colleges. The primary objectives of the survey are to identify the current activities of program graduates, to determine the extent to which current activities are related to the graduates' educational programs, to provide information to be used in career awareness and planning efforts, and to provide data to facilitate program planning, evaluation, and development. The 16 colleges of the WTCS surveyed graduates of programs in their respective colleges between October and December 2002. Of the 17,833 graduates surveyed, 13,420 responded, for a response rate of 75%. The labor force does not include those who are unemployed and are not seeking employment. Full-time employment is defined as 35 or more hours per week. At least 93% of respondents were employed, with 77% of those employed in areas related to their educational programs. More than 21% were employed while in training, and 46% after training. The top three median annual salaries by type of degree granted were: (1) associate degree ($30,769); (2) two-year technical diploma ($26,361); and (3) liberal arts transfer ($24,000). The document also offers median salaries by discipline. Research instrument appended. (NB)
