Teaching Striking/Fielding Concepts in Cricket
Turner, Adrian P.
Teaching Elementary Physical Education, v15 n4 p10-14 Jul 2004
This article presents activities for developing striking/fielding concepts in modified cricket games. Though not as familiar to American children, cricket is emerging as the second (to soccer) most popular game in the world. The novelty of the skills provides an appropriate learning challenge for all students while reinforcing concepts and strategies that can be applied in any striking/fielding game. The ideas presented in this article are intended to provide physical education practitioners with the basic tools to teach cricket. The suggested activities can stand alone as a cricket unit or be used as part of a compilation unit on striking/fielding games concepts. (Contains 2 tables and 5 figures.)
