Ideas to Promote Physical Activity with Your Students
Darst, Charlene A.; Darst, Paul W.; Johnson, Tyler G.
Teaching Elementary Physical Education, v17 n6 p74-76 Nov 2006
In this article, the authors provide some practical actions, which physical education teachers can initiate to increase the activity levels of children by engaging them in fun physical activities outside of physical education class, that would help meet the guidelines developed by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). Among others, physical educators may run a lunchtime or after-school intramural program, organize a lunchtime walking club, and establish a weekly or monthly pedometer sign-out for classroom teachers.
