Tackling Barriers to Social Development: The Role of Physical Activity Programs
Lee, Okseon
Teaching Elementary Physical Education, v17 n6 p48-50 Nov 2006
The main purpose of this article is to share the author's observations of children's broader experiences in school as they relate to barriers to positive social development. In this article, the author enumerates the four barriers together with its barrier bluster to social development. Furthermore, the author states that a well-organized physical activity program has great potential for enhancing children's social development. And to maximize this potential, teachers should be aware of children's classroom and school experiences and carefully plan a progression of learning experience. They should also extend their efforts to build a socially responsible community by collaborating with parents and classroom teachers.
