Student Misconceptions during Two Invasion Game Units in Physical Education: A Qualitative Investigation of Student Thought Processing.
Hare, Molly K.; Graber, Kim C.
Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, v20 n1 p55-77 Oct 2000
Described misconceptions of elementary students participating in physical education, testing ways of recording and classifying types of misconceptions. Data from observations, videotapes, interviews, and document analysis indicated that misconceptions fell into categories representing motor skill execution and confusion over terminology, strategy, and instructional tasks. Instruction was a major factor in reducing misconceptions or creating a climate ripe for their development. (SM)
