Commonalities and Controversy in Context: A Study of Academic Historians' Educational Beliefs.
Quinlan, Kathleen M.
Teaching and Teacher Education, v15 n4 p447-63 May 1999
Examined eight academic historians' educational beliefs in the context of their department, the university, and the history of the discipline, discussing similarities about goals for history education; perceptions of students; roles as teachers; and classroom patterns. Despite commonalities, there were key differences among educational beliefs about the nature of discipline; student learning goals; teaching approaches; and analysis of student difficulties. (SM)
