Moments of Interpretation in the Perception and Evaluation of Teaching.
Conle, Carola
Teaching and Teacher Education, v15 n7 p801-14 Oct 1999
Explores the importance of interpretation in the perception and evaluation of teaching events, using excerpts from a collaborative self-study project in a preservice class. Certain events were interpreted very differently by different individuals. Hypothesizes that personal and cultural biographies shape these interpretations. Faculty tend to build teacher development and evaluation systems and consider them value-neutral. (SM)
