Are Schools Prepared To Allow Beginning Teachers To Reconceptualize Instruction?
Puk, Tom G.; Haines, Jim M.
Teaching and Teacher Education, v15 n5 p541-53 Jul 1999
Examined beginning teachers' role in reconceptualizing classroom instruction. After learning about teaching inquiry and completing a student-teaching practicum, student teachers completed surveys about teaching inquiry during the practicum. Few taught inquiry or saw their associate teach it during the practicum. This made them less enthusiastic about using inquiry in the future than did student teachers who received encouragement to do so. (SM)
