Together against All Odds: Towards Understanding the Identities of Teachers of At Risk Students.
Friesen, David W.; Finney, Sandra; Krentz, Caroline
Teaching and Teacher Education, v15 n8 p923-32 Nov 1999
Describes how teachers and university researchers collaborated to discuss the teaching of students at-risk due to various social and economic barriers. They used action research to better understand unique teacher identities shaped in classroom settings with large numbers of these students. Teacher stories revealed that, as key interagency team members, teachers played strong advocacy roles for at-risk students. (SM)
