State-Mandated Curriculum Change in Three High School Physical Education Programs.
Wirszyla, Chris
Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, v22 n1 p4-19 Oct 2002
South Carolina's state-mandated staff development initiative, the Physical Education Institute, emphasized how to teach high school student performance indicators. Researchers investigated factors that facilitated or hindered implementation of the performance indicators. Data from three schools indicated that lead teachers facilitated the extent to which programs met reform goals. The teaching/coaching role conflict was the main hindrance. Schools and teachers met each performance indicator to varying degrees. (SM)
