Classroom Discussion: A Method of Instruction and a Curriculum Outcome.
Larson, Bruce E.
Teaching and Teacher Education, v16 n5-6 p661-77 Jul-Aug 2000
Examined the thinking of six high school social studies teachers about two alternative purposes of classroom discussion (learning of academic content and development of discussion competence), describing ways that their conceptions and practice related to these purposes. Data from interviews and think-alouds indicated that respondents used classroom discussion to teach their students how to discuss. (SM)
