How Teachers Manage Their Work in Inclusive Classrooms.
O'Donoghue, Thomas A.; Chalmers, Ron
Teaching and Teacher Education, v16 n8 p889-904 Nov 2000
Investigated how rural teachers managed their work in inclusive classrooms. Interviews and observations developed the theory of selective adaptation, which suggests teachers can be classified as technicians, strategists, or improvisers according to the extent to which they selectively adapt classroom practices. A relationship existed between the extent to which teachers selectively adapted and the impact of inclusion on their lives. (SM)
