What Does the Teacher Do? Constructivist Pedagogies and Prospective Teachers' Beliefs about the Role of a Teacher.
Holt-Reynolds, Diane
Teaching and Teacher Education, v16 n1 p21-32 Jan 2000
Presents a case study of a prospective English teacher who developed a limited understanding of constructivist pedagogy. Interview data indicated that she, like other students in the study, was ambivalent about what teachers should do in order to teach literature. This article explores how constructivist pedagogies can lead prospective teachers to project a thin vision of their role as teacher. (SM)
