Although the population of K-12 students in public schools is becoming increasingly multicultural, the population of preservice teachers is increasingly monocultural. Responses to these conditions include recruiting and retaining larger numbers of preservice teachers from diverse groups and better integration of multicultural education into teacher preparation programs.
