In the Beginning: New Physical Education Teachers' Quest for Success.
Mohr, Derek J.; Townsend, J. Scott
Teaching Elementary Physical Education, v12 n4 p9-11,13 Jul 2001
During induction, beginning physical education teachers assume new roles and responsibilities and must deal with a number of problems common to their workplace (wash-out, reality shock, isolation, marginalization, workload and role conflict, and deprofessionalization). Proactive professional development strategies for combatting these problems and experiencing a successful induction are provided (e.g., mentoring programs, professional journals, and action research).
