Of Organelles and Octagons: What Do Preservice Secondary Teachers Learn from Interdisciplinary Teaching?
Spalding, Elizabeth
Teaching and Teacher Education, v18 n6 p699-714 Aug 2002
Examined the impact of an interdisciplinary teacher project on the learning of preservice secondary teachers enrolled in a graduate level teacher education program. Data on four successive cohorts of students indicated that participants successfully created and implemented interdisciplinary curriculum and were quite positive about the experience. Participants learned from one another, learned about each others' subject areas, learned about students, and experienced a spectrum of rewards and challenges. (SM)
