Elaborating a Model of Teacher Professional Growth.
Clarke, David; Hollingsworth, Hilary
Teaching and Teacher Education, v18 n8 p947-67 Nov 2002
Presents a model of teacher professional growth that views professional development as teacher learning. The model includes four analytic domains in which teacher change occurs, indicates potential relationships among change domains, and identifies mechanisms operating to produce these relationships. The article illustrates the model with data from three Australian studies, noting aspects of school context which can constrain or promote teacher change and discussing short- and long-term change.
