Going Deeper than Deep and Surface Approaches: A Study of Students' Perceptions of Time.
Case, Jennifer; Gunstone, Richard
Teaching in Higher Education, v8 n1 p55-69 Jan 2003
Supports Paul Ramsden's "call" to look beyond students' approaches to learning towards their perceptions of the educational context. The article, however, refutes Ramsden's suggestions for an analysis of student perceptions as being somewhat limited and present a method that is more qualitatively and linguistically grounded. This method was used to analyze students' perceptions of time in a second year chemical engineering course. (SWM)
