The Two Faces of Deweyan Pragmatism: Inductionism versus Social Constructivism.
Prawat, Richard S.
Teachers College Record, v102 n4 p805-40 Aug 2000
Discusses the divergent views of John Dewey, building a case for the fact that he finally and firmly rejected James' extreme subjectivism in favor of Peirce's brand of pragmatism, which he recognized integrated the biological and sociological aspects of knowledge and mind in a unique, powerful way. The educational implications of Dewey's Peircean shift are discussed. (SM)
