Can Groups Learn?
Cohen, Elizabeth G.; Lotan, Rachel A.; Abram, Percy L.; Scarloss, Beth A.; Schultz, Susan E.
Teachers College Record, v104 n6 p1045-68 Mar 2002
Evaluated the work of sixth grade students' creative problem-solving groups, proposing that providing students with specific guidelines about what makes an exemplary group product would improve the character of the discussion and quality of the group product. Student groups did learn as a result of their discussions and creation of group products. Both self-assessment in group discussion and quality of group product independently predicted group essay performance. (SM)
