Presents a discussion of frequently stated strengths and weaknesses of performance-based teacher education (PBTE). The author suggests that PBTE has both strong points and weak points and that the key is to integrate the strong points into traditional teacher education programs. (LRA)

A study is described which was conducted to determine and interpret concerns of preservice students in agricultural education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Virginia State University and first-year agricultural education teachers in the same state. Statistical tables are included. (BM)

The authors examine long-term trends in agricultural education enrollment factors. They compared 1980 and 1985 students on factors influencing them to select that major and relative importance of factors. Both groups wanted to "get into other jobs." The largest shift was in the people influential in the student's decision. (CH)
