This brief review of the Supreme Court case, Edwards v. Aquillard, which struck down a Louisiana statute that prohibited the teaching of evolutionary theory in the public schools unless "creation science" was also taught, considers the ruling's implications on school policies and practices. (CB)

Guthrie, James W. – Teacher Education Quarterly, 1983
A new California law, Senate Bill 813, implies sweeping changes for teacher education in that state. The law permits districts to hire college graduates without teaching credentials and train them. It also requires all teachers to renew certification periodically. Implications for schools of education are discussed. (Author/PP)

Crockenberg, Vincent – Teacher Education Quarterly, 1989
Discusses a 1986 appeals court decision which held that the St. Cloud State University (Minnesota) teacher education program may not allow students to satisfy their student teaching requirements in parochial schools. The court held that such a policy would violate the first amendment prohibition against "an establishment of religion." (IAH)
