This article describes the use of holistic literacy lessons about story characters to teach reading comprehension to students with language disabilities. Different educational strategies for involving students in the emotional and social lives of story characters are discussed, including creating character report cards, holding press conference simulations, creating literacy learning games, and holding a character celebration day.
