Reports the results of a 1-hour discussion session held on "the ideal teacher" at the 1985 annual conference of the Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies. Knowledge of content was considered the most important goal of teacher training. Less agreement was found on issues of training for interpersonal effectiveness and career awareness. (JDH)
