The Role of American Values in the 2004 Election
Risinger, C. Frederick
Social Education, v68 n5 p330 Sep 2004
The words "values" and "American Values" have been nearly ubiquitous in presidential election coverage on television and radio, in the print media, and on the Internet. But teachers know that it is a touchy topic to cover in the classroom. Trying to find the right approach to teach about values is difficult at any time; and, in a presidential election year, some teachers would just as soon avoid the controversy that might ensue from heated arguments in the classroom and, even more frightening, among parents who might learn about the discussions from the students. The author of this article tried to identify objective, non-partisan web sites that will help teachers who want to examine this topic with their students. This article lists and describes the web sites that the author found.
