Empowering Students in a Graduate-Level Social Work Course.
Huff, Marie T.; Johnson, Miriam McNown
Journal of Social Work Education, v34 n3 p375-85 Fall 1998
Describes a quasi-experimental study comparing students' perceptions of empowerment in two sections of a graduate social-work course. One section was taught using a traditional format of lectures, exams, and papers. The other was taught with techniques intended to empower students: learning contracts, formative evaluations, and narrative evaluations. Students' perceptions of empowerment were positively affected by these techniques. (Author/MSE)
