Preparing Social Work Doctoral Students for Teaching: Report of a Survey.
Valentine, Deborah P.; Edwards, Sherry; Gohagan, Debra; Huff, Marie; Pereira, Angela; Wilson, Pamela
Journal of Social Work Education, v34 n2 p273-82 Spr-Sum 1998
Results of a national survey of 51 social-work doctoral-program directors indicate that although the majority of doctoral programs include preparation for teaching as a program objective, they offer limited formal course work and few opportunities for supervised teaching experience. Recommendations are made for better preparing doctoral social-work students for their roles as teachers. (Author/MSE)
