A Social Constructivist Framework for Integrating Cross-Cultural Issues in Teaching Clinical Social Work.
Lee, Mo-Yee; Greene, Gilbert J.
Journal of Social Work Education, v35 n1 p21-37 Win 1999
Describes a teaching framework combining culturally sensitive and culturally specific perspectives to prepare students for cross-cultural clinical social work. Three components are (1) an overview of social constructivism; (2) exploration of culture and self to encourage openness to cultural diversity; and (3) a social-constructivist approach to the help-seeking process, which provides guidelines for exploring culture-specific client problem-solving efforts.
