Reconstructing Andrew Jackson: Prospective Elementary Teachers' Readings of Revisionist History Texts.
VanSledright, Bruce; Afflerbach, Peter
Theory and Research in Social Education, v28 n3 p411-44 Sum 2000
Examines how the reading of two revisionist history text accounts concerning U.S. President Andrew Jackson influenced the historical interpretations and understanding of two prospective elementary teachers. Suggests that rhetorically powerful revisionist history texts may have the capacity to re-narrativize the thinking of prospective teachers receptive to new ideas about the past. (CMK)
