Tugel, Joyce
Science and Children, v41 n5 p22-25 Feb 2004
How did a teacher move from knowing the educational theory of inquiry science to being able to design a student-centered investigation? How can a teacher recreate the magic of those precious sparks and intentionally make those moments happen? The answer lies in professional development that equips teachers with the skills required to accomplish this goal. This article provides an overview of some of the issues related to the processing of improving teacher quality in schools and examples of high-quality programs available.
