Student Poster Sessions
Baumgartner, Erin
Science Teacher, v71 n3 p39-41 Mar 2004
Poster presentations are one way scientists present their latest research findings at professional meetings. This format also works well in the classroom and gives students the opportunity to communicate the results of their experiments (perhaps the most critical portion of their studies). In a performance-based task such as a poster session, assessment becomes an integral part of the learning experience (PRSD 15, 1996). This article presents an example of how poster presentation technique helps students present scientific results in an authentic manner. The author further states that by developing a poster to present their research, students gain ownership and pride in their product. (Contains 1 figure.)
