Sixty-six elementary education upperclassmen were tested to determine their Piagetian stage of intellectual development. Results indicated 26 percent were very formal, 52 percent formal, 15 percent transitional, and 8 percent concrete. (SL)

Investigated were operative comprehension differences between 239 sixth and eighth grade pupils in activity oriented science programs and 249 students in a textbook oriented science program. Results indicated no differences among sixth graders, but activity oriented eighth graders scored higher than textbook oriented students. (SL)

Describes a methodology utilized to teach 61 concrete operational ninth grade students the formal operational ideas of density and relative density.
