Over 500 preservice and inservice elementary and secondary teachers were surveyed to assess the need for metric education in Nevada. A questionnaire was used to determine interest in the topic. Another instrument measured cognitive knowledge of metrics. Results indicated that teachers knew little but were interested in metric education. (CP)

Perceptions of science teaching goals are reported from a state-wide survey of 1,078 students and 433 educators in Iowa. Data from the Educational Goal Inventory indicates that 4 of the 8 science goals were of marginal importance to students; ratings from educators were higher.
