Bridging Communities: Lifelong Learning Opportunities through Distributed Staff Development
Havice, Pamela A.; Havice, William L.; Isbell, Clint; Grimes, Larry; Wilson, Kathy
Quarterly Review of Distance Education, v5 n2 p111-116 2004
The purpose of this study was to evaluate participants' reactions to the use of videoconferencing facilities to deliver educational/learning opportunities to communities and nonprofit organizations. Descriptive design principles were utilized to sample participants' formative reactions to the methods of a distributed learning environment. This study revealed that the participants' reactions were not negatively affected by the use of videoconferencing as a delivery method for staff development. Furthermore, there was limited evidence to support the idea that continued experience and use of videoconferencing technology by participants develops a more positive attitude towards the technology.
